This is an accessibility statement from the Disability Data Initiative (DDI) regarding the Disability Statistics Questionnaire Review (DS-QR) and Estimates (DS-E) Databases.
Measures to support accessibility
The Disability Data Initiative (DDI) takes the following measures to ensure accessibility for the Disability Statistics Databases:
- Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.
- Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.
- Provide continual accessibility training for our staff.
- Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.
- Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.

Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
The Disability Statistics Databases are partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

We have consulted with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) to ensure many disability perspectives review and inform the page contents and design.

Known limitations for the Disability Statistics Databases:
- Screen readers will read a lot of complex elements like chart data: Screen readers will read lots of random sounding numbers, letters, and table structure words in the course of reading chart data. We aim to make the charts and data as accessible as possible, and for completeness we choose to include charts among elements read by screen readers, including key messages that precede charts. Please use tabular data if the maps or charts turn out too disorienting or user unfriendly.
